Changelog

What's new in Kinu, and what we're building next.

Stay up to date with the latest changes and improvements to Kinu. We build slowly and on purpose, so this page stays calm too.

Kinu 1.0

The first public release of Kinu is here on iOS and Android. Kinu is a private place to remember the little things about your people, with a gentle reminder when it's been a while.

Everything below ships in 1.0. There are no feeds, no followers, no streaks, and no scores. Just the people who matter and the small details worth holding onto.

People and relationships

  • People: a simple record for each person you want to stay close to. A name is all you need to start.
  • Relational Compass: a calm visual map of who feels close in your inner circle, so the people you care about most stay front and center.
  • Lenses: flexible categories like Family, Friends, and Work to organize your people however you think about them.
  • Per-person Mode: choose Active, Low energy, or Paused for each person to set how much Kinu reaches out about them.

Remembering the little things

  • Moments: jot down the observations and details worth remembering about a person.
  • Voice notes: record a quick voice note and play it back later. Included on every plan.
  • Important dates: keep birthdays, anniversaries, and your own custom dates in one place.
  • Private notes: a space that is for your eyes only. Private notes are never processed, analyzed, surfaced, or used by any other feature.

Gentle reminders

  • Reminders: a quiet reminder when it's been a while, plus heads-ups for the dates that matter. Reminders fire at your single preferred time and shift out of your quiet hours, so they never feel like pressure.
  • Rituals: set a gentle recurring intention for someone, like a weekly call, and Kinu brings it to your home view when it is due. No streaks, no pressure.

Sync and access

  • Local-first by design: your data lives on your device and the app works fully offline. Writes happen on the device first, so nothing waits on the network.
  • Encrypted sync (Kinu Plus): keep your people in sync across devices. Your data is encrypted on your device before it is uploaded, and stays encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • Web and desktop access (Kinu Plus): open Kinu from any browser at kinu.care.

Your data, your account

  • Sign in with Apple, Google, or email: an account powers backup and restore, encrypted sync, and restoring your purchase. The app still works fully offline once you are signed in.
  • Export anytime: take your data with you as a JSON file whenever you like. See Exporting your data.
  • Delete anytime: remove your account and all of its data from Settings, or from the account deletion page. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

The app and store always show the live price for your region. Kinu Plus is $6.99/month or $69.99/year, and Lifetime is a one-time $149.99. See Plans and pricing for the full breakdown.

Coming soon

We're still building Kinu, calmly. Here is what we're working on next:

  • User-held encryption keys: a future improvement that would let only you unlock your synced data, so not even we could read it. This is not available today. For where things stand right now, see Encryption explained.
  • More languages: Kinu ships in English and Spanish, and we're working to add more.

Check back here for updates as new features and improvements are released.
