Free vs Plus
Compare Kinu's plans. Every feature is free for up to 10 people, and Plus adds unlimited people, sync, and web access.
Kinu has three plans, and all of them include every feature. The difference is how many people you can add, whether your Kinu syncs across devices, and where you can use it.
The short version: the Free plan is the complete Kinu experience for up to 10 people. Kinu Plus lifts that limit, adds encrypted sync, and unlocks Kinu on the web.

Every feature, every plan
No matter which plan you choose, you get the full Kinu experience:
- People: the heart of Kinu, the records you keep for the people who matter
- Moments: small observations you record about a person, in text or as a voice note
- Voice notes: capture a memory out loud, then play it back later
- Important dates: birthdays, anniversaries, and other dates that matter
- Reminders: a quiet prompt at your preferred time, shifted out of your quiet hours
- Rituals: gentle recurring intentions for a person, like a Sunday call, that come back to you when they are due
- Private notes: for your eyes only, never processed, analyzed, or used by any feature
- Relational Compass: a calm visual map of who feels close in your inner circle
- Lenses: organize people into meaningful groups like Family, Friends, or Work
- Per-person Mode: set someone to active, low energy, or paused to control how much Kinu reaches out
There is nothing locked behind a paywall on the Free plan. You get the complete Kinu experience for up to 10 people, with no missing features.
You sign in, then Kinu works offline
Kinu asks you to sign in with Apple, Google, or an email and password. Your account is what makes backup, restore, and sync possible, and it keeps your purchases tied to you if you switch phones.
Once you are signed in, Kinu works fully offline. Your writes go to your device first, so the app never waits on a connection. On the Free plan, your data stays on that one device. On Plus, your account also lets your Kinu follow you across devices.
What "10 people" means
On the Free plan, you can add up to 10 people to your Kinu. Every feature works fully for all 10. You can record moments and voice notes, set the Relational Compass, add important dates, keep rituals, write private notes, and create lenses. Nothing is held back.
If 10 people covers your closest circle, you may never need to upgrade. A focused group of 10 is exactly the right size for many people, and the Free plan is built to stay that way for as long as you want.
If you do reach the limit and want more room, see Can't add more people.
What Plus and Lifetime add
When you subscribe to Plus or purchase Lifetime, three things unlock:
- Unlimited people: no cap on how many people you keep in your Kinu
- Encrypted sync: your Kinu follows you across devices, encrypted on your device before it is uploaded
- Web and desktop access: open your Kinu from any browser at kinu.care
Sync is opt-in and runs quietly in the background. Your data is encrypted on your device before it leaves, and it stays encrypted in transit and at rest. Photos and voice notes stay on your device and are never uploaded. To understand exactly how this works, see How sync works and Encryption explained.
This is not a trial
The Free plan works forever. There is no countdown, no expiration, and no features that get taken away later. If 10 people and local storage suit you, Kinu is free for life.
You will never see a popup nagging you to upgrade. When you are ready, and only if you are ever ready, Plus is there.
Choosing between Plus and Lifetime
Kinu Plus is a subscription at $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year. You can cancel anytime, and your data stays safe on your device either way. The yearly plan saves you roughly 17 percent compared to paying monthly.
Lifetime is a one-time purchase of $149.99. You get everything in Plus with no recurring charges, no expiration, and every future update included. It is for people who already know Kinu is a companion for the long haul.
Lifetime is a founding member offer. The price may increase as Kinu grows, but your purchase locks in access forever, including features added in the future.
What happens if I cancel Plus?
Nothing is lost, and nothing is held hostage. Your data stays on your device. You keep everyone you have already added, and you can still record moments, set reminders, and use every feature. You simply return to the Free experience: no new sync, and web access pauses until you resubscribe. For the full picture, see What happens when I cancel.
