Deleting Your Account

Deleting your Kinu account removes your account and all of its data for good. It happens right away, and it cannot be undone. There is no grace period and no way to restore it later, so it is worth reading this page before you start.

If you only want to stop paying for Kinu Plus, you do not need to delete anything. Skip to cancel instead of delete below.

How to delete your account

You can delete your account from inside the app or from the web.

In the app

The deletion runs immediately. When it finishes, you are signed out and returned to the welcome screen.

On the web

If you cannot reach the app, you can delete your account from the public page at kinu.care/account-deletion. Sign in with the account you want to remove, then confirm. This is the same permanent deletion as the in-app flow.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account removes everything tied to it, both on our servers and on the device you delete it from.

On our servers, we permanently remove:

• Your account and login credentials (your email and any linked Apple or Google sign-in).
• Your encrypted sync data, if you are on Kinu Plus.
• Your billing and plan details on our side.

On the device you delete from, Kinu also wipes:

• Your local database of people, moments, important dates, private notes, lenses, and Relational Compass settings.
• Photos and voice notes saved on the device.
• Any scheduled reminders and the home or lock screen widget contents.
• Any data export file Kinu created on the device.

In other words, the account and its data are removed from both sides. This is different from signing out or uninstalling, which leave your account in place. See what happens if I uninstall for that comparison.

Export first if you want to keep anything

Deletion does not hand you a copy of your data on the way out, so save one yourself first if you want it.

1. Open Kinu and go to Settings.
2. In the Privacy section, tap Export Data.
3. Choose whether to include private notes, then share the file somewhere safe.

If you are on Kinu Plus

A couple of things are worth knowing before a Plus member deletes.

• Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Your subscription is managed by the App Store or by your account on the web, not by your Kinu account. If you delete your account while a subscription is still active, cancel the subscription separately so you are not charged again. See manage your subscription on iOS or on the web.
• Kinu confirms your latest changes are saved before it wipes. Because your synced data is about to be removed, Kinu checks that your most recent edits have reached the server before it deletes anything. If it cannot confirm that (for example you are offline), it pauses and asks you to try again when you are back online, so nothing is lost in a half-finished state.

Cancel instead of delete

If your goal is to stop paying but keep Kinu, cancel your subscription rather than delete your account. Cancelling keeps your account and every person, moment, and note you have added. You simply move back to the free tier.
